There are many unique small-town and rural attractions within minutes of the Kenilworth Lodge.
Some of these include:
• Highlands Hammock State Park - One of Florida's original four state parks. It offers a driving loop through the park, boardwalk over the cypress swamp, multiple walking trails in a variety of lengths, pinic area and pavillions, country cafe and campground. There is also a ranger-led tram tour that goes through four eco-systems. Florida's only Civilian Conservation Corp museum is housed at the park in a building built by the CCC project.

• Henscratch Farms - Country Store, Winery and Vineyard set up like a historic country homestead amid 10 acres of vineyards. Country store has homemade jams, jellies and wines along with a front porch and rockers to sit a spell. There are several buildings on the farm and chickens you can feed. Henscratch Farms is host to frequent special events anc ooncerts. The most famous is the annual Grape Stomp & Bluegrass Festival in August.

• Archbold Biological Center - a world reknowned, ecologial research facility. the Archbold buildings were built by bridge designer, John A. Roebling, between 1930-1935. Archbold operates an eco-ranch tour, Indian Prairie Safarie, that is open to the public.

• Highlands Little Theater - local theater that performs Broadway plays. The 2009-2010 season includes Fiddler on the Roor, You Can't Take It With You, Into the Woods, Oscar & Felix and Footloose. Tickets are available onlineat www.highlanslittletheater.org. Kenilworth Lodge offers a 15% room discount when you purchae theater tickets. Lake Placid Mural Tour lake Placid is known as the "town of murals" because of the 44 murals painted on the walls of the small town. There is a self-guided tour booklet available designed for a leisurely self tour. A scavenger hunt is added to the fun with a hidden item painted into each mural with a challenge to find it in the guide book. Some murals are 3-D and some are both 3-D and have sound! Lake Placid Historical Museum While you are in Lake Placid, you may want to visit this unique small mustem located in the original train depot. It has a variety or area items, including a lot of Jenny Wren memorabilia and a dress once worn by First Lady, Jackie Kennedy! It is quite an interesting collection for a small museum.

• Highlands Art League - Gallery Walk once per month downtown and various one, two or three day workshops taught by well-known artists
