The surrounding area is rich with nature and parks venues.
From a leisurely walk through one of Florida's first state parks to a learning experience at a world renknowed scientific reaearch facility, you will find a variety of nature experiences just minutes from Kenilworth Lodge.

Highlands Hammock State Park is one of Florida's four orginal state parks and features a boardwalk over the Cypress wetlands, a variety of short walking trails, a 3-mile driving/ bicyle riding loop through the park, rental bikes, a playground, picnic pavillions and grills. There is also a ranger-led tram tour that takes you through several eco-systems. It is about a 10 minute drive from the Kenilworth Lodge. Highlands Hammock State Park

Civilian Conservation Corps Museum located in Highlands Hammock is Florida's only museum dedicated to the CCC.

Lake-June-in-Winter Scrub State Park , located in Lake Placid is home to one of the rarest ecosystems protected within the Florida Park Service. The 845 acres of the park are predominantly scrub and contain the highest concentration o rare plans and animals in North America! This park is more suited to avid nature enthusiasts and those seeking quiet and solitude. There are designated hiking trails, but you will need to bring your own water. Archbold Biological Center a world reknowed, ecological research facility. The Archbold buildings were guilt by bridge designer, John A Roebling, between 1930-1935. Today in addition to hosting scientific research, Archbold also operates the Indian Prairie Safari Ranch Tour. The ranch tour is a fun Swamp buggy tour through a working citrus-cattle ranch at MacArthur Agro-ecology Research Center. For more information, visit Archbold Biological Station

Henscratch Farms, Florida's 12th Winery, offers a variety of activities and events. Enjoy a visit to a country farmhouse with 200 laying hens that free range among the vineyards and offer ample supplies of fresh eggs. There are tours and tastings, walks throgh the vineyard, fresh eggs and a gift basket shop. If you prefer, just sit in a rocker on the Cracker-style front porch and pretend you are in a gentler era. Lake Placid Mural Tour is a collection of over 30 murals on the buildings of Lake Placid, designed for a leisurely self tour. There is a self-guided tour booklet available and just for more fun there is a scavenger hunt built item painted into each mural. Some murals are 3-D and some are both 3-D and have sound! It takes a couple of hours to see all the murals.
While you are in Lake Placid, you may want to visit the

Lake Placid Historical Museum located in the original train depot. It has a variety or area items, a lot of Jenny Wren memorabilia and a dress once worn by First Lady, Jackie Kennedy! It is quite an interesting collection for a small museum.

Historic Bok Sanctuary is a peaceful garden and history center surrounding the historic Bok Tower. The gardens were designed by the famous landscape architect, Frederick Lawy Olmsted, Jr.
The carillion bell tower is neo-Gothic with art deco influences. It was completed in 1929 and is listed as a National Historic Landmark. The tower still features carilion concert daily.
Historic Bok Tower Sanctuary also offers regularly scheduled concerts and special events. It is about a 40 minute drive from Kenilworth Lodge.
